I have a bot monitoring ip probes and your ip or ip range got caught up in

Thanks for the offer and detail... It was MRO that was having the troubles, though.

Hey Rick. I noticed you're using Thunderbird to post these messages. Your message is coming through as UTF-8, but it doesn't seem like you're sending UTF-8 characters in the above quote. So I have two questions:

    1) Are you using ISO-8859-1 as your default text encoding in Thunderbird's server settings?

    2) Are you forcing Synchronet's NNTP service to use UTF-8 with the "-utf8" switch in services.ini?

I think one of these two (or both) is causing this display issue. If you want to continue using ISO-8859-1 in Thunderbird, get rid of the "-utf8" parameter in services.ini.

If you want to continue to translation everything to UTF-8 via Synchronet's NNTP service (I do this also), you should change Thunderbird's settings to use UTF-8 for the default text encoding.

Lastly, If you are using Thunderbird's default settings (which should already by UTF-8), you might need to add the "-utf8" option to the command line in the NNTP and NNTPS sections of services.ini:

    Command=nntpservice.js -f -na -utf8

    Hope that helps!

    Regards,
    Nick

    I am right here Nick.

    I know you are.

I had thought about shutting down the finger service but I like experimenting with the old protocols sometimes.

Nothing I said had anything to do with the finger service. That must have been someone else.

As far as the insult about the multiple personality disorders I have
no hateful witty comeback. I just enjoy this hobby. I have no
explanation for all the other stuff you commented on.

Never once did I say "disorder". I was making a joke to something someone else said. If I hit a nerve or hit too close to home, I apologize.

Have a great day and thanks for bringing this to my attention. I am
not sure if you were trying to be hurtful or helpful but thanks
    either way friend!

I was definitely going the helpful route, hence my longer drawn out message to you about your usage of Thunderbird with clear options on how to fix it.

None of my sarcasm towards others was directed at you.
