The combo restaurants, with A&W or Taco Bell combined with KFC...

In my area there's a Dunkin Doughnuts/Taco Bell combo and all I kept thinking was, please don't get the ingredients mixed up.

I did not realize they were affiliated. I, too, would have similar
    concerns! :D

Don't forget Pepsico Bought out Pizza Hut as well.
Now, they're all owned by Tricon Global Restaurants.

Oh I have not forgot. ;) Tricon (or whatever they were called
originally) was located here in Kentucky, I think. Not sure about now.

IMHO, they seemed to mess the food up less with Taco Bell and Pizza Hut
than they did the others, although I missed the sit-down Pizza Hut
experience for several years after most of them went to delivery only.

Pretty soon, we'll go to DunkinChickenBurgerBell and they'll 3D print the food for you. Make sure they swap the fat cartridge between franchises!

We have a couple of pizza places that capture the old-school feel - dark wood, pitchers of soda and beer, carafes of wine, plaid tablecloths covered in clear plastic. Shakers of crushed red papper flakes and grated parmesan cheese.

I think the Round Table Pizzas near us still have dine-in service.

Based on that timeline I don't guess it was Pepsi that ruined
Long John Silvers, but something did. I grew up in Louisville
in the 1970s and LJS was, at that time, sort of a cross between
"fast food" and a table service restaurant. It was sort of a
big deal to go there, and the fish was pretty good -- very much
unlike the overbreaded stuff you might find in an LJS in the
    1990s.

IMO, LJS uses far too much breading on their chicken and fish.

Interesting. Back in the 1990s I can remember visiting some small towns
here in Kentucky where they had a "strip mall" like building they called a "food court." You would walk in and it was a lot like a mall food court,
but without the mall. You could choose from 3 or 4 counters to get a
burger or pizza or whatever. IIRC, the chains represented were also not affiliated.

They did the last time I stopped in one, which was ages ago now. In the
1970s, when I was younger, the fish was prepared differently. Still
breaded but not near as much.

Pepsico bought KFC, Pizza Hut, and Taco Bell, they never owned LJS, or A&W. KFC, Pizza Hut, and Taco Bell were spun off into Tricon Global Restaurants. Tricon was later renamed Yum! Brands Inc., which now owns these and other restaurants like Habit Burger.
    A&W Restaurants and Long John Silver's (LJS) are no longer owned by the same company;
Yum! Brands sold both chains in 2011 to focus on KFC, Pizza Hut, and Taco Bell. A&W was sold to A Great American Brand, LLC, a franchisee-led group, while Long John Silver's went to LJS Partners LLC, a consortium of franchisees and investors.

Ive lived in areas with a large hispanic population and have been fortunate to have taco trucks and taquerias with wonderful, authentic mexican food.

According to Gabriel Iglesias, taco trucks are the best places to get
    authen

Yeah we have a small local chain (2 locations) here called Aguacates
that's as authentic as it gets.

I have not had much experience with food trucks, aside from the odd BBQ trucks that used to park downtown near where I worked. In Paducah -- several hours away -- there is a very small drive-up mexican place that apparently started as a truck. I wish I could remember the name... they were at least as good as King Taco.

Yeah, in the spring and summer months here, we see lots of hotdog carts
out. Especially in downtown Buffalo and around Sahlen Field during
    Bisons games.
